It has been awhile.

Life, work, and school call for me too much but this morning I woke with a bad case of nausea so I’m not in class at the moment. I thought it’d be a perfect time to blog!

First, I’ve been working tirelessly (well, whenever I can) on a new design for Shizucor.com. This current one sucks plus the menu is being covered up by my content when viewed in Safari and IE 7. I didn’t know my site was doing that! Anyway, I’ve got most of the pages done but I need to work on the blog. I’m thinking I just might use Wordpress for the whole site so I don’t run in to problems like the one I have now. Needless to say, I’m very proud of the new look. I’m hoping to get it done by April.

I played around this morning on Photoshop with help from this tutorial. The result was supposed to an HDR image but I’m not quite sure I achieved that look. Whether or not it looks like HDR doesn’t matter to me. I think it looks awesome. :-)

Birthday, Body Worlds, and Bunny

I’ve been unable to write in my blog because of projects and unavailable internet service. I’ve been wanting to blog about last weekend but I’ve decided to let my flickr photo page do the talking so to speak. You can take a look at pictures here.

Did I mention today…well, October 20th was my birthday? It wasn’t a bad day at all besides having to come to work to re-organize a section of the store. It was a quiet day, though, filled with Body Worlds and awesome Italian food at Portofino’s with my love.Today my mother will hold a birthday party which I’m soooo looking forward to…

Anyway, Body Worlds was a great exhibit. According to my boyfriend it was “fascinatingly disturbing”. I wasn’t disturbed by the exhibit because I love being able to see how complex and beautiful our bodies are under our skin. If I had all day, I would have drawn all the bodies because the visitors weren’t allowed to take pictures. Below is the list of my favorites:

Bunny with exposed blood vessels.I was so moved by this exhibit, I considered donating my own body to Body Worlds only if I can choose my pose. Picture it: You have me sitting at a computer desk and blogging. The caption reads, “This the body of a sedentary woman with little to no exercise.” :-) After the exhibit my eye caught a picture of a bunny with it’s exposed blood vessels (pictured on the left). I immediately thought of Bigwig of course because it looks to be about the same size but I have nothing to compare it to.

Body worlds asides, I purchased a cheap henna kit at a natural food store. Before I apply it to my body I decided to practice drawing henna patterns with a pen. I tried to practice with acrylic paint but it was too thick to mimic henna paste. I guess I’ll have to make the actual paste and practice on paper and then my own hand. Below are patterns I made myself with the help of existing patterns from Henna Page’s free ebooks. I’ll be using the pattern from #2 on my fingers but the pattern at the top right corner is what I’ll use for my hand. I think they look great but they’re just newbie designs. :-) If I continue doing this for myself and friends, I might get good enough to become a licensed henna artist. :-)

I’m looking to creating more designs and hopefully, I’ll able to steady my hand enough to put them on a hand!

Have you ever had henna done?
