I’ve always liked linoleum block prints but I haven’t created one since high school — about seven years. Whoa!

A couple years ago I bought a 4×6 Speedball linoleum block to play with but totally forgot about it. Well, just a couple days ago I found it and decided to take a stab at it. Two (not very serious) injuries later, here’s the result:

My carving was kind of sloppy and I slipped a couple times, which resulted in two tiny stab wounds on my right thumb. I may have carved too hard — I don’t know. Here’s a shot of the block:

Despite hurting myself and having difficulties with carving, I’m doing this again. For now, I’ll experiment with this block using different colors and possibly adding new textures. Fun!
